Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation and electronic filing for low- to moderate-income Iowans.

Certified RSVP volunteers prepare taxes with computer software and help with special tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit, and Credit for the Elderly or Disabled.

Our volunteers provide free tax help, preparation, and filing. We offer electronic filing so that taxpayers can receive their tax refunds quickly. Taxpayers using VITA volunteers to help file their taxes do not pay to have their returns prepared, and they do not pay to get their refunds. Help is available by appointment only.
